Have mercy! Is ‘Full House’ coming back to television?

TV Guide reports that a revival of ’80s and ’90s family sitcom ‘Full House’ is in the works, which is being led by original series co-star John Stamos. Also reportedly on board are executive producer Bob Boyett and series creator Jeff Franklin, who are developing the show’s storyline and scripts.

Led by Stamos, other past cast members are reportedly interested in reprising their original roles, including Candace Cameron Bure (D.J. Tanner), Jodie Sweetin (Stephanie Tanner) and Andrea Barber (Kimmy Gibbler). Bob Saget (Danny Tanner) and Dave Coulier (Joey Gladstone) would be involved as well.

Unlikely to return, however, are Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, who both portrayed the role of Michelle Tanner. ‘Full House’ helped launch the careers of the Olsen twins, who have since retired from acting and are both focusing on their careers in business and fashion.

Stamos, who has partial ownership of the show’s rights, first hinted to Bravo last winter that a revival was in the works. “We’re sort of working on a twist on a sequel,” he told Andy Cohen. “But we don’t know if it’s going to happen yet or not.”

‘Full House’ aired from 1987 to 1995 and told the story of Danny Tanner, who struggles to raise three young girls by himself after his wife is killed in a car accident. He enlists the help of his brother-in-law, Uncle Jesse (Stamos) and his best friend Joey, as they learn to live as a family that is anything but traditional.

Networks just might be interested in reviving ‘Full House’ after Disney successfully resurrected ‘Boy Meets World’ through with ‘Girl Meets World.’
