The first trailer for the new Ghostbusters movie starring Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon is finally here.

The film's director and co-writer Paul Feig (Bridesmaids, Spy) unveiled the trailer today (March 3) on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Per his own instructions: "When you watch the trailer online today, if possible play it on big speakers or with a good pair of headphones. Crank it up, friends!" Okay then! Watch it above.

The trailer seems to indicate that it's more of a straightforward remake than we would've thought: A library ghost, the hearse, the intergroup dynamics (McKinnon plays the Egon Spengler figure, and may be our favorite so far). The 1984 original, helmed by Ivan Reitman, had more of a dry tone than the more slapstick approach evident in this first trailer — though that choice does play to Leslie Jones' strengths (or those we've seen on SNL so far).

It's been a year and a half since Feig announced he'd be co-writing and directing a reboot of the classic comedy, which starred Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd.

Despite the fact that every beloved entertainment property has gotten a reboot in Hollywood's current risk-averse/nostalgia-soaked climate (or will soon), the news that the leads would be female was enough to throw some fans — mostly male — into a tizzy, fanning themselves at the very notion and weeping for their destroyed childhoods. Will the trailer change hearts and minds? We'll find out this summer.

Ghostbusters hits theaters July 15, 2016.
