Gina Rodriguez is putting her Emmy For Your Consideration (FYC) money to good use this year. The Jane the Virgin star has been nominated for the show's fourth and penultimate season, but instead of using her promo allotment for glamorous campaign events, she's sending an undocumented high school student to college. Princeton University, to be exact.

"Our show has always jumped at any opportunity to help me do something for the Latinx community," Rodriguez told The Hollywood Reporter. "So I asked my showrunner, Jennie [Snyder Urman], if we could do something different with the money this year."

Rodriguez partnered with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Los Angeles to find the right applicant, and although being able to send a young woman to a prestigious college without any financial stresses is beyond a generous feat of humanitarianism, the 33-year-old actress still feels a little uncomfortable talking about its monetary value.

"It's taboo to talk about the money being spent, but it's the reality," Rodriguez admitted. "I think sharing this might inspire other people to do something similar. You can desire recognition and, at the same time, decide to not play in the confines of the game as it's set up."
