‘Glee’ Cast, ‘Without You’ – Song Review

Glee Cast
FOX

Glee‘ Cast members transform the David Guetta and Usher collaboration ‘Without You’ into a power ballad on next week’s episode of the show.

The ‘Glee’ version, performed by Rachel (Lea Michele), nicely replaces the synths and programmed electronics of Guetta’s hit with real instruments, starting with a piano intro, leading up to drums and strings during the more up-tempo sections.

The instruments give the song more of an emotional punch, especially when the powerful drums kick in as Rachel serenades Finn with the words, “I won’t run, I won’t fly / I will never make it by / Without you, without you / I can’t rest, I can’t fight / All I need is you and I / Without you, without you.” The People’s Choice Award winner impresses with her steady vocals.

‘Without You’ appears in next week’s ‘Glee’ episode, titled ‘Yes/No,’ which airs on Tuesday, Jan. 17 and also features covers of songs by Rihanna and Maroon 5.
