'Glee' has never been a show to shy away from topics that some may consider taboo or controversial, which can sometimes spark a much needed, public dialogue about said topics. So when it came to light that the show would be tackling the topic of being transgender, it didn't come as a huge surprise to us. One of the characters on the show, Coach Beiste, was revealed in a recent episode to be transitioning into a man, and an image of the character from the upcoming Feb. 13 episode has been unveiled.

According to PEOPLE, Dot-Marie Jones, who plays Coach Bieste, was hesitant of the impending storyline when she first heard about it. She said, "I just didn't want to let down the girls who are straight and tomboys that my character represented the last four seasons. But I got the script and I was, like, 'Oh my God. This is amazing.'"

She went on to say the reactions she's received from fans have been mostly positive ones, saying, "I had thousands of Tweets from people. I was crying. Members of the transgender community were saying, 'I never thought I'd see myself on TV. You have no idea what this means to me. Now, maybe people will get it.'"
