While in New York City over the weekend for multiple appearances, 'Glee' star Darren Criss gave fans in the Big Apple a surprise of a lifetime when (according to Billboard), he announced a last minute and intimate performance on Sunday night (Dec. 18), benefiting Toys for Tots.

Criss announced details for the performance a mere five hours before taking the stage at famed club, Joe's Pub. With only 100 tickets available for the event, the star's die-hard fans flocked to the venue to snatch up their tickets for the rare, up-close-and-personal performance by the actor, musician and composer.

During the evening, Criss performed about 10 songs (via Examiner) -- such as the 'Glee' hit 'Teenage Dream,' and the 'Aladdin' staple 'Part of Your World'; he even brought out fellow University of Michigan alumni Theo Katzman and Charlene Kaye, both who are gifted performers in their own right, as well as New York residents, who excelled as openers to the headlining slot done by Criss.

Criss' brother, Chuck, member of the indie rock group Freelance Whales, joined his famous sibling for a duet of Bob Dylan's 'New Morning' at the benefit concert, as well as the other shows done over the weekend while in New York City.
