‘Glee’ to End After Sixth Season

Gleeks are still reeling from the death of Cory Monteith and the loss of his character, Finn Hudson. ‘Glee‘ co-creator Ryan Murphy dealt fans of the show another blow, revealing that the show’s sixth season will be its last.

‘Glee’ is currently in its fifth season, meaning the series should wrap in spring of 2015, if it has a full season running from September through May for its sixth.

TV Line reports that Murphy confirmed the show’s fate and future at an event on Oct. 16.

He admitted he always envisioned the series to end with Monteith’s Finn and Lea Michele‘s Rachel Berry, who was Monteith’s love interest in both real life and on the show.

“The final year of the show, which will be next year, was designed around Rachel and Cory/Finn’s story,” Murphy said. “I always knew that, I always knew how it would end. I knew what the last shot was – he was in it. I knew what the last line was – she said it to him.”

In the wake of Monteith’s tragic death from an overdose in July, Murphy has to scrap those plans entirely and craft a new way to end the show.

He continued, “So when a tragedy like that happens, you sort of have to pause and figure out what you want to do, so we’re figuring that out now.”

This is Ryan Murphy we’re speaking of and he always comes up with something brilliant.

He admitted, “I have a good idea. I’m going to tell the studio and the network [in a week] how after Cory’s unfortunate passing we can end the show that I think is very satisfactory. And kind of in his honor, which I love.”

R.I.P. Cory and Finn.
