Finn serenades Santana with a stripped-down piano version of Cyndi Lauper's 'Girls Just Want to Have Fun' in this week's episode of 'Glee.'

He turns Lauper's classic party anthem into a solemn tribute to girl power while trying to console Santana as she deals with being forced out of the closet. The lyrics may not necessarily match the current 'Glee' storyline, but the message works when Finn sings softly, "The phone rings in the middle of the night / My mother says when you gonna live your life right / Well mother dear, we're not the fortunate ones / Oh girls, they want to have fun."

Finn gets some help on backing vocals from the guys in New Directions, but it's mostly his song and his chance to make nice by offering words of encouragement. We're not sure if 'Girls Just Want to Have Fun' has ever been turned into a serious ballad, but kudos to 'Glee' for making it work.

The song appears in this week's 'I Kissed a Girl' episode of 'Glee,' which also features covers of Dolly Parton, Melissa Etheridge, Pink, Katy Perry and k.d. lang as part of an all-female original song lineup. The episode airs Nov. 29 on FOX.
