Tonight's 'Prom Queen' episode of 'Glee' was more loaded than Puck on a Friday night, and PopCrush has your recap.

As the kids geared up for junior prom, everyone at McKinley High was up in arms about dresses, dates, and gaydom. The entertainment for the big dance pulled out, so Principal Figgins called in New Directions for their first paid gig -- an offer of $400, which they couldn't refuse.

Mercedes is down about not having a date and considers not going, so Rachel steps in and the pair propose to Sam a three-way date on a budget, which includes an $8.99 all-you-can-eat trip to Breadsticks, so naturally, he accepts. Elsewhere, Kurt tags along with Brittany, Santana, Tina and Lauren Zizes to help them find their perfect prom dress, and Puck decides that he needs to be crowned anti-king to re-gain his street cred, so he enlists Artie to help him spike the punch with a bottle of gin.

Kurt asks Blaine to prom, which he accepts, though reluctantly. The Dalton Academy Warbler spills that he was beaten up after going with a guy to a Sadie Hawkins dance at his own school, but still agrees to go with Kurt. Rachel tests a cover of Adele's 'Rolling in the Deep' on the audio-visual club in the auditorium, and in walks her ex-flame Jesse St. James (Jonathan Groff) to finish the number with her and propose that she take him to prom.

During home ec, while Brittany is trying to understand the difference between eggs for food and eggs with chicks inside of them, Artie rolls in with a prom proposal in the form of Stevie Wonder's 'Isn't She Lovely,' with Finn, Sam, Pick and Mike offering the percussion section. Unfortunately, she says no because she just can't accept that he called her stupid.

Kurt wants to sport a kilt to prom, but both his dad and Blaine are against him 'stirring the pot.' True to character, he insists "prom is about joy, not about fear" and decides to rock it anyhow.

Suddenly, it's time for the big McKinley High prom, and Puck, Sam and Artie kick it off right with their rendition of Rebecca Black's uber-viral song 'Friday,' which has the whole gym bumping. Oh, and Artie took the rap verse, if you were wondering.

Following a painful commercial break (we just love prom), Rachel gave the high schoolers a slow dance with Christina Perri's 'Jar of Hearts,' and eyed Finn throughout the entire thing -- a surprise to us, as we thought it would have been Jesse she was angry with! But when the former fling, starts rubbing up on Rachel, Finn has had enough and starts a fight right in the middle of the dance floor, and Sue pulls them both out.

The candidates take the stage for the crowning of prom king and queen, and the votes show that Karofsky holds the bigger crown, while Kurt has been voted queen of the ball -- making for perhaps the most surprising and intense moment in 'Glee' history. Needless to say, Kurt is mortified and makes a quick exit stage right, upset that the incident shows that no progress had been made and the joke is on him.

Across the school yard, Rachel chases a very upset Quinn into the bathroom, where the cheerleader blames her queen loss on our glee club front-lady, and gives her a big slap across the face. Following an apology, Quinn opens up that she's scared that high school will be her peak.

Artie gets caught spiking the punch and suffers an intense interrogation in Sue's office, though we later find out he was spilling in lemonade, not alcohol. Meanwhile, Blaine and his backup singers Tina and Brittany lay down ‘I’m Not Gonna Teach Your Boyfriend How to Dance With You’ by the Black Kids for the school dance.

Kurt regains his strength and returns to the stage to collect his tiara and make a statement … which is apparently "eat your heart out, Kate Middleton." He and Karofsky are given the floor for their dance together, and Mercedes and Santana perform Abba's 'Dancing Queen,' but the football player has too much pride to come clean about who he truly is, so Blaine joins Kurt for a dance as balloons fall from the ceiling and hearts around the world swell with happiness.

We loved all of the pop culture references in this 'Prom Queen' episode of 'Glee,' but we can't wait to find out who will bite the dust on next week's 'Funeral' episode.
