Gloria Estefan – Pop + Hip-Hop Artists From Miami
Red hot singer Gloria Estefan was born in Cuba in 1957, but emigrated to Miami as a baby with her family.
Before music got her good, she attended the University of Miami and majored in psychology and minored in French. She worked as a translator for the Miami Airport Customs Department, too.
She emerged as one of the biggest Latin pop and dance artists of the '80s, with a string of hits like 'Turn the Beat Around,' 'Anything for You,' 'Rhythm Is Gonna Get You' and 'Cuts Both Ways.' A serious bus accident, which happened on March 20, 1990, didn't derail her career and she rebounded, better than ever.
Her voice truly defined Latin Dance pop for two decades.
