After weeks of rumors and speculation, Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton officially confirmed their status as a couple. And it looks like Gwen was attracted to Blake, in part, because of how nice he was to her after her divorce. Standards!

According to TMZ, Blake helped elevate Gwen’s self-esteem following her divorce from Gavin Rossdale, who she was married to for 13 years. Sources say that Gwen often referred to her ex-husband as a “control freak” who made derogatory comments about her throughout the course of their marriage. The site also claims that Gwen said Gavin criticized her parenting methods and told her she wasn’t a supportive wife.

Gwen was reportedly “blown away” by how decent Blake was to her following the split, which should really just be considered bare-minimum human decency. A source said, “It made her feel good again.” That paired with his “fun” attitude was, apparently, enough.

Before the two got together, Blake reportedly called up fellow (former) The Voice judge Christina Aguilera for advice on how best to handle his “crush” on Gwen. Christina reportedly responded, “Ha, good luck with that."

Good luck indeed! A rep confirmed the news on Wednesday, saying, "Gwen and Blake are longtime friends who have very recently started dating.”

And if you’re wondering how Blake’s ex-wife Miranda Lambert feels about all this, wonder no more. According to E! News, it wasn’t exactly a shock: "She was not surprised to hear of the romance between Blake and Gwen. They were always pretty flirty. Miranda and Blake were on the rocks on and off and knew that this could always be a possibility.”

In any case, there’s no ill will there: "Blake is just a flirty kind of charmer. [Miranda] has nothing against Gwen and thinks she is a very talented artist. Whomever Blake is with she wishes them the best.”

Have you ever dated someone because they were really nice to you?
