New couples are the worst, and Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton are the newest.

They’re also famous, which means anyone close to them has a double whammy of exposure when it comes to even the most minimal and innocuous expressions of PDA.

So it was during last night’s (November 9) episode of The Voice, when Blake complimented Gwen's decision to give one of her contestants a makeover by cutting her hair. Modern-day chivalry.

Blake said, “First of all, I think the last time you cut somebody’s hair on this show, Gwen, they won. I mean, I ended up with the person but…” to which Gwen laughed a little too hard, as though Blake had just invented comedy. Then the happily married Adam Levine bitterly interjected, playing the part of everyone’s jealous friend when he mimicked Gwen’s laugh.

This banter is unbeatable! No wonder The Voice is still on the air, despite its winners' continued lack of success in the music world.

Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton recently confirmed their relationship, with a rep saying, "Gwen and Blake are longtime friends who have very recently started dating.”

If you’re wondering how the two got together, it seems Gwen was attracted to Blake, in part, because she was “blown away” by his ability to do the bare minimum  show her kindness following her divorce from her husband of 13 years, Gavin Rossdale.
