Halsey continues to emphasize that it's 2018 and things need to change.

Just last week, the 23-year-old singer called out Firefly Festival for its lack of female performers, and now that this weekend celebrates the Women's March, Halsey opens up about her heart wrenching past.

On Saturday (January 20), the "Now or Never" singer delivered a powerful speech that included a self-written poem titled A Story Like Mine at the New York march. The poem recollects Halsey's past experience with rape, assault, miscarriage and abortion, according to a full transcription from Variety.

"The year is 2018 and I’ve realized
That nobody is safe long as she is alive
And every friend that I know
Has a story like mine."

Halsey ended her poem with a call-to-action asking individuals to "shut up and listen" to the stories who don't have a voice for themselves.

"At the top of your lungs.

Be a voice for all those

who have prisoner tongues,

for the people who had grow up

WAY too young,

there is work to be done

there are songs to be sung,

lord knows there’s a war to be won"

It wasn't before long fans and public figures reacted to the singer's moving poem on Twitter, expressing how powerful it meant to them:
