Halsey's standing strong atop the Billboard Hot 100 for the tenth week, but as far as the company behind the chart's concerned, her star is just beginning to ascend.

Billboard has officially named the "Closer" singer its 2016 Billboard Women in Music's Rising Star honoree, the company announced today (October 26). And, considering Halsey's very first LP Badlands debuted at No. 2 in 2015 — and she's since been a chart mainstay — she was a natural choice for the accolade, The Hollywood Reporter-Billboard Media Group President Janice Min said.

"Halsey is the voice of a generation, someone who is an impassioned political advocate and personal artist, the kind who can have a No. 1 single...and not at all be categorized as your typical pop star," Min said. "Her incredible talent has earned her this year’s Rising Star award and we look forward to hearing what’s next from her as she continues making music during what we know will be a long and successful career.

Also of note: Billboard will recognize Shania Twain as 2016's Icon Award-winner. Twain's racked up four No. 1 albums across her three-decade career, and her Come On Over is the No. 1 country album of all time. Min called her a "groundbreaking artist" and "fearless."

Ariana Grande, Carly Rae Jepsen, Lady Gaga and Nicki Minaj have each received the Rising Star distinction in previous years, while Aretha Franklin is the only other previous Icon Award-winner. Franklin got the inaugural honor in 2012.

The 2016 Women in Music event will film on December 9 in New York City and air on Lifetime on December 1. Madonna was announced as the Woman of the Year honoree earlier in October.
