When Hilary Duff recently revealed that she does, beyond all comprehension, have a profile on the terrible dating app, Tinder, we admit we were confused. Celebrities have this built-in network of beautiful, talented and interesting people to choose from at will and only need to make a call to their publicists to set up a date. We in the real world are forced to base our swipes on how much secondhand embarrassment we derive from someone's profile. In other words, the option of calling up Harry Styles and asking him out is preferable to swiping right on a stranger just because we think he might look alright in natural light.

But Hilary is actively choosing to put herself through the good, the bad and the inherent disappointment that comes with online dating, so we'll let her live. We are at least grateful that she is more than willing to dish on her experience. She spoke with Ryan Seacrest about her date with Tinder user Tom and it sounds like it was pretty mediocre -- which is better than terrible but not a good as great. She said (quotes via Perez Hilton), "We went bowling so we didn't have to talk too much, but we did talk a lot actually. He was cool. He brought a friend and I had some friends there. He used to be in editing for reality shows. Now, he's an actor and he just wrote a play. He's an interesting guy. To be honest, I don't really want an actor… I think he has a few jobs."

Hilary is lucky she found someone who has a job at all. She says she's willing to try and try again, saying, "I'm just a Tinder animal. I had my Tinder training wheels on for my first date. Now it's smooth sailing." We wish you luck, Hilary. May you never be ghosted by the man of your dreams, only for him to hit you up four months later, claiming he never saw your last text.
