Nas, ‘Bye Baby’ – Best 2012 Hip-Hop Songs

Nas' divorce from his ex-wife Kelis was constant fodder for the tabloids. Unlike his heated divorce battle, this top hip-hop song of 2012 is neither spiteful nor angry... It's actually reflective.

In the video, Nas bids farewell to his marriage with the green wedding dress, reportedly to be the only thing Kelis left behind in the divorce, draped over his knees. The veteran rhyme-slinger watches old home movies as he reflects on happier times with the 'Caught Out There' singer. "Why did we mess it up / We was friends, we had it all / Reason you don’t trust men, that was your daddy fault," he raps.

It's rare for a rapper to show such vulnerability in a song, which is why Nas' 'Bye Baby' is a refreshing listen. The song appears on Nas' 'Life Is Good' -- one of the best rap albums of 2012.
