Hot Chelle Rae, ‘Why Don’t You Love Me’ Feat. Demi Lovato

Peppy popsters Hot Chelle Rae slow things down a bit on 'Why Don't You Love Me,' a duet with Demi Lovato featured on the band's upcoming sophomore album, 'Whatever.'

The ballad opens with a verse from Hot Chelle Rae lamenting the fact that the girl they're in love with is cool just being friends. The AMA winners for New Artist of the Year deliver the lovestruck chorus, "Why don’t you love me, touch me / Tell me I’m your everything, the air you breathe / Why don’t you love me baby / Open up your heart tonight / I could be all that you need / Why don’t you love me?"

It turns out that the girl really wants to be more than friends, but she's too afraid to admit it. Lovato sings, "See I’m just too scared to tell you the truth cause my heart, it can’t take anymore / Broken and bruised, longing for you and I don’t know what I’m waiting for."

'Why Don't You Love Me' is a rather generic ballad, one the band probably felt obligated to include to balance out the hyper energy of 'Tonight, Tonight' and 'I Like It Like That.' We are genuinely impressed once again by Lovato's voice, which makes the song worth hearing.

The leaked version posted below is not great quality, but you can hear the proper recording by picking up 'Whatever' when it hits stores on Nov. 29.
