Iggy Azalea’s Ex Says She Signed Over Rights to Sex Tape
TMZ has obtained a 2009 legal agreement between the ‘Fancy’ rapper and her ex (and former manager), Hefe Wine, who claims to have exclusive rights to “manufacture, sell, distribute and advertise ‘any’ recording embodying visual image” of the Aussie rapper. Yikes.
Of course, when Azalea allegedly signed the deal, it was to make records and music videos — but Hefe Wine (aka Wine O) says he can legally sell it — and she can’t do anything to stop him.
However, entertainment attorney Domenic Romano claims to FOX 411 that this is not necessarily the case.
“When the parties to a contract are mistaken as to the scope or nature of the agreement, courts will either fill the gaps with reasonable and customary terms or modify the contract to express the true intentions of the parties,” he explained, meaning: “If Iggy Azalea did not expect that her contract would govern their sex tape, then she could argue that a more customary term should be inserted instead, like the one suggested above.”
Moreover, Romano added, “Within the music industry, since the phrase ‘recording embodying visual images’ usually refers to videotaped performances of a recorded popular song, Iggy could argue that Hefe Wine’s intended use of the video runs against the customary definition of the term.”
We hope for her sake that that is the case.
