'American Idol' contestant James Durbin's got major cojones. Last week, this aspiring rock 'n' roller showed his guts by performing Judas Priest's metal anthem 'You've Got Another Thing Coming.' He took an extreme left turn this week, choosing a song by one of the greatest songwriters in the history of recorded music.

Durbin demonstrated awe-inspiring range as he "slayed" Paul McCartney's 'Maybe I'm Amazed,' so said Randy Jackson. Jackson applauded Durbin for showing his "sensitive side," especially after throwing his metal horns up last week. Jackson also warned that "James Durbin is dangerous, America."

Durbin, who is afflicted with a double blow of Tourette's and Asperger's syndromes, isn't letting life kick his a--. Rather, it's Durbin who is doing the kicking, as Steven Tyler astutely noted! Tyler declared, "You have taken everything you ever felt and kicked it into the middle of next week."

Durbin's daring, do-my-own-thing performances prove that when life throws you a curve ball, you take a big swing -- or in his case, a big "sing" -- and knock it right out of the park.
