James Franco released a creepy parody of Justin Bieber's 'Boyfriend' video, impersonating the teen and singing his song. The actor and Ph.D candidate thinks that he may have run afoul of The Biebs, claiming he has heard that the singer hates the clip.

"I was asked to take it down by some people," Franco told E!. "Bieber didn't contact me, but I don't think he was too happy."

However, another source said that Bieber never even saw the clip, so it wasn't his request to yank the vid.

Perhaps it was someone in his camp who contacted Franco and asked that it be removed, without ever even showing it to the singer. That's highly possible. He's a busy kid and doesn't have time to look at all of his online "press." Or maybe a crafty Belieber made the request somehow. You never know; they are a resourceful bunch, those Beliebers.

Whatever the case, Franco is adamant that he was not trying to trash The Biebs with the clip.

"I wasn't trying to diss him," he said.

We don't think Le Biebs would be pissed at the parody. After all, he did tell 'SNL' writers that they can skewer him any which way they choose when writing material for when he hosts the show on Feb. 9. So he has a sense of humor.

But maybe, just maybe there is a reason he wasn't stoked on it. Franco and Bieber have a bit of a six degrees of separation-like tie, thanks to Selena Gomez. Franco and Gomez are co-stars in the forthcoming good-girls-gone-bad film 'Spring Breakers.' He plays a scuzzy pimp. And, well, The Biebs and Gomez were an item but appear to have broken up, although neither will give up the goods and confirm the status of their much-discussed relationship.

So maybe Bieber was not feeling the parody due to the link to his ex. Something to chew on, PopCrushers and Beliebers. What do you guys think? Did you like the parody? Or did you hate it?
