Metallica is typically known for their signature hard rock sound, but last Friday (May 15), frontman James Hetfield went acoustic for a very soulful rendition of Adele’s “Crazy for You” with the help of a very special guest performer: his daughter, Cali. Watch the performance in the fan-shot video above.

The father-daughter duo teamed up on the cover for the Acoustic-4-A-Cure benefit concert in San Francisco, which supports UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital’s pediatric cancer program. Hetfield’s 16-year-old daughter has clearly picked up some of his innate musical talents, because the young singer blows us out of the water with a voice that's well beyond her years — and very suited to Adele’s 19 tune. Here’s hoping Cali someday picks up a guitar, starts a band and follows in her dad’s footsteps!

It’s been quite a while since we’ve heard from Adele -- at least in terms of new music (we did, of course, take notice when the English powerhouse channeled George Michael during a costume party celebrating her birthday). It’s been nearly five years since the singer dropped her award-winning and critically acclaimed 21.

The “Someone Like You” singer pushed her follow-up back last year, and details surrounding a new release date are still up in the air, as she's only promised that fans can expect a third LP “at some stage in 2015.” We’ll just have to console ourselves by replaying the Hetfield clan’s updated version of Adele’s “Crazy For You” as we wait this out in the meantime.
