Petite powerhouse Janelle Monae will release her new album 'The Electric Lady' soon, but in the here and now, she's shared 'Q.U.E.E.N.,' a new track featuring Erykah Badu.

It's a funky, sassy tune and Monae even tosses out the popular colloquialism "throwing shade" in the lyrics. Score!

The song speaks to female empowerment, so Beyonce isn't the only R&B diva who can encourage and support the women and 'Single Ladies' of the world through music.

The ladies joke about twerking in the mirror and dancing alone late at night. In the funkdafied bridge, they point out that "the booty don't lie" and Monae delivers a rap filled with references to her beloved Kansas City and other historical figures. The girl can work it, lyrically and vocally.

There's some seriously funky guitar riffs and some string thwaps that remind us of Wild Cherry's 'Play That Funky Music,' but overall, the ladies have their hands on their hips, striking a lyrical pose and harking back to the '70s with the sassy track.

It's a fun, handclap-filled romp that doesn't scrimp on sexy or sultry, and sounds like it came roaring from another decade.
