Rumors broke late last year that Janet Jackson would be marrying her billionaire boyfriend in a lavish ceremony. Turns out the singer already wed Qatari businessman Wissam Al Mana in secret in 2012. Those sly, secretive devils. They pulled a fast one on the media. Good for them, right?

Jackson, 46, and Al Mana, 37, issued a statement, shooting down rumors of a gold-plated wedding while confirming that they are man and wife.

The rumors regarding an extravagant wedding are simply not true. Last year we were married in a quiet, private and beautiful ceremony. Our wedding gifts to one another were contributions to our respective favorite children's charities. We would appreciate that our privacy is respected and that we are allowed this time for celebration and joy.

Well, at least they made donations to good causes, instead of spending millions on a big bash.

There were rumors that Jackson didn't sport her ring since she was afraid she'd lose it. Sounds like she didn't want to let the cat out of the bag.

That's actually par for the course with her. She usually keeps her unions classified.

This is the third marriage for Jackson. She was wed to James DeBarge and Rene Elizondo, the latter of which was immortalized on her Rolling Stone cover. She split with longtime boyfriend Jermaine Dupri in 2009.
