BET will honor Janet Jackson by presenting her with the first ever Ultimate Icon: Music Dance Visual award during the upcoming 2015 BET Awards.

Jason Derulo, Tinashe and Ciara will also pay homage to Janet by performing a dance number together, though the details are otherwise scarce at this point. But it sounds like a fitting tribute for her, whose legendary performances have had such a massive amount of influence over the years, and who continues to be a point of reference for artists that want to leave a lasting impression on pop culture the way Janet has.

BET's president of programming, Stephen G. Hill said (quote via the LA Times), "This is Janet Jackson, people! We are excited beyond belief to present her with our inaugural ULTIMATE ICON: Music Dance Visual award and we are thrilled that she chose the BET Awards as the first step on her new road."

He continued, "An inspiration to many other artists, 'Ms. Jackson' (‘cause I’m nasty) blends music, dance and visuals in unique and groundbreaking ways and we look forward to celebrating her storied history… as well as giving the BET Awards audience a peek into her Unbreakable future."

There's no word as to whether Janet will perform at the show herself, though it would make sense if she did. She's most likely about to embark on a whirlwind promo tour in support of her upcoming studio album Unbreakable, her first since 2008's Discipline.

Check out Jason Derulo, Tinashe and Ciara's tribute when the BET Awards air on Sunday, June 28 at 8PM EST on BET.
