Does the Grammys have something against the Carters?

JAY-Z was nominated for eight Grammys this year—more than any other artist, and he somehow went home without a single award.

Not one.

It's surprising, especially given the excitement around his album 4:44 and the number of awards the project was nominated for. JAY has been making the rounds since the Grammy nominations announcement, including an in-depth interview with CNN's Van Jones, which drew the ire of the president.

Bruno Mars, however, won big, taking home an award for every single category in which he was nominated, including Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Album of the Year. Kendrick Lamar bested JAY in the remaining categories, including Best Rap Performance, Best Rap/Sung Performance, Best Rap Album and Best Music Video.

This isn't the first time the Carters have been slighted at the Grammys either. Just last year, Beyoncé was expected to take home Album of the Year for Lemonade, but ended up losing to Adele, who was so upset about Bey's loss, she questioned what the superstar had to do to win the award as well.

But even with his surprising Grammy losses, Jay is still winning. Just last night, he was honored with a lifetime achievement award at the Clive Davis gala, and during the ceremony looked stately with his wife and daughter, as he observed the goings on.

It just would've been nice if he would've taken home some hardware in the process.
