Every week at PopCrush, we’re putting the spotlight on one up-and-coming act you need to know about. Why? So you can get on board early before everyone else and their mother jumps on the bandwagon…and so you can be that one friend in the group who’s always like, “Um, actually, I prefer their earlier work.”

Singer-musician Jaymes Young hails from Seattle, so it's no wonder his moody, rock-tinged electronica sounds like a misty rainfall: Hazy and chilly, his music glistens with a sort of bittersweet catharsis—the kind of calm contentment you feel while gazing at hundreds of tiny water droplets as they race down your window during a drizzle.

The artist's new ode to human detachment, "Feel Something," captures the atmosphere perfectly: The track kicks off with a spattering of relaxed, lightly throbbing synths, a heart-racing drum loop bubbling underneath the pre-chorus as the song rushes towards a euphoric climax—a clap of thunder, if you will—as Young finally explodes: "You could be the one to make me feel something / Show me that you're human."

On "Stoned on You," a shivering slice of emotive, vibey electro-R&B, Young dives further into his feelings—albeit of the more sensual variety—singing in pleasant falsetto, "Girl I get stoned on you / Rubbing my bones on you / Nothing else burns like you / Ripping my shirt off you." It's intoxicating, and captures the wistful sensation of infatuation perfectly.

The artist has been kicking around the music industry since he released his debut EP, Dark Star, in 2013—but something tells us his star is only now beginning to really shine. Call it a feeling.
