Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez announced their engagement on Saturday (March 9). The retired baseball star reportedly popped the question while the two were on a romantic getaway in the Bahamas, just weeks after celebrating their two-year anniversary. He proposed to the pop star with a stunning emerald-cut diamond that reportedly cost $1 million.

In light of their pending nuptials, we wanted to take a trip down memory lane and look at the other people both the former New York Yankees shortstop/third baseman and actress/singer/dancer said "I do" to.

Rodriguez has been married once before. He married Cynthia Scurtis in 2002. The couple have two children together, 14-year-old Natasha Alexander and 10-year-old Natasha Alexander. Just months after giving birth to their second daughter, Scurtis filed for divorce citing "emotional abandonment" of her and the kids, as well as claiming he had cheated on her. It was rumored A-Rod was having an affair with Madonna at the time; however, she later issued a statement saying she was not romantically involved with him and had nothing to do with the state of his marriage.

J.Lo has been married three times, and is on her fifth engagement (remember when she was infamously engaged to Ben Affleck back in 2002?). Her first marriage, to waiter Ojani Noa, lasted only a year (February 1997-January 1998), and it was a messy one. Her ex tried to profit off their failed relationship and planned to write a book, but Lopez sued him, stating it violated the confidentiality agreement they signed upon getting divorced.

Her second marriage ended up being even shorter than her first. The singer fell in love with backup dancer Cris Judd on the set of her "Love Don't Cost a Thing" video. They wed in September 2001 and got divorced in June 2002. Though Judd says media attention was to blame for their split, some speculate Lopez meeting Affleck on the set of Gigli is the real reason for the break up. After all, she did start dating the actor as soon as the ink dried on her divorce papers.

As we all know, her relationship to Affleck didn't pan out either. They broke up in January 2004, and by June J.Lo was married to longtime friend Marc Anthony. Four years later, she gave birth to twins Max and Emma. She and Anthony split in 2011, and their divorce was finalized in 2014.

Despite the winding path that led them to each other, Rodriguez and Lopez seems like the perfect fit.

“I’m in a good relationship. I feel like I can say that for the first time — I don’t know — maybe ever. And not that I didn’t have great relationships, full of love and adventure, but this is the first relationship I’ve been where I feel like we really make each other better," Lopez gushed about Rodriguez in 2017. "We complement each other, and there’s really pure, true love. Just wanting to support the other person and make them happy. So there’s a different selflessness in the love that’s beautiful and different. And healthy!”
