Jennifer Lopez paid tribute to Selena at the 2015 Billboard Latin Music Awards, performing an emotional medley of the late singer's biggest hits.

Jennifer Lopez — who famously portrayed the Tejano icon in the 1997 film Selena — put her heart and soul into the moving number on Thursday night (April 30), delivering songs like "Como La Flor," "Bidi Bidi Bom Bom" and "Amor Prohibido" with grace and passion. While the medley notably did not include Selena's iconic "Dreaming of You," J. Lo filled her rendition of "I Could Fall in Love" with a palpable poignancy. And to make the night even more heartfelt, she was joined on stage by Los Dinos, the late singer's band — which is made up by her two siblings and late husband.

March 31, 2015 marked the 20th anniversary of the tragic death of Selena, who was just 23 years old when she was murdered in 1995 by the president of her fan club. In early April, the late singer's family announced that they are working to create a hologram of Selena, a project they call "Selena the One." The family revealed that Selena the One will record new music, collaborate with other artists and plans to tour.

Earlier this year, Jennifer Lopez spoke out about the late singer's legacy and her rare talent.

“It has always bugged me that people would try to think that there's a 'next Selena,'" she told Billboard. “It's like saying there's another James Dean or Marilyn Monroe. People like that don’t come along every day. There is never going to be another Selena."
