Kicking off tonight’s 2015 American Music Awards, superstar host Jennifer Lopez opened with what seemed to be a glimmering, slowed-down ballad rendition of her classic dance hit, "Waiting For Tonight." Backed by an orchestral soundtrack, the diva cooed through the first verse before pausing, the room bursting into applause.

"Wait, don't clap!" she said, all smiles. "Tonight’s not about me. Tonight is about the music, and this year’s music made me wanna dance. Do you all wanna dance with me?” More applause. "Alright, lets dance!"

And thus began a bombastic dance celebration of a year in music. Looking gorgeous in a sparkling, hug-curving leotard, J-Lo launched into an earth-shattering medley of dance, booty-shaking, ballroom-dancing, and twerking to a mix of 2015's biggest hits, including songs by Bruno Mars, Nicki Minaj, Beyonce, The Weeknd, Drake, Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift, and ending on a particularly high note with Rihanna's "Bitch Better Have My Money" along with a troupe of writhing dancers.
