So who was the soul brave enough to attempt Whitney Houston's biggest hit, 'I Will Always Love You,' on tonight's tribute episode of 'American Idol' (March 7)? The petite powerhouse known as Jessica Sanchez, that's who. How'd she do?

Well, Sanchez earned a standing ovation from the judges for her pretty performance. Overall, it was a great rendition of a vocal legend's signature song and Sanchez has emerged as a clear favorite and possible winner of the 'Idol' crown. We were not fully blown away, still, Sanchez got style points for "going there," since the song is so hard to sing. She also made us think that she is this season's diva-in-training, like last season's Pia Toscano, with how she looked and handled herself.

Sanchez is legit and she looked gorgeous in her royal blue column gown. She didn't give J. Lo "the goosies," but she did bring tears to the glamazon's heavily made up eyes. That's just as good, though, in terms of La Lopez's reactions.

The singer was at her best during the last notes of the song. She was emotional and tender and knows her way around a power ballad. Houston, and the song's original author Dolly Parton, would likely nod their heads in approval. There is no question that Sanchez voice can fill a room and bring men to their knees.
