John Mayer has made a few bizarre statements in the past. From his comment likening Jessica Simpson to "sexual napalm" to his theory that "Kerry Washington would break your heart like a white girl," this singer is no stranger to making controversial statements.

But this time, the head-scratching comment her made may have an element of truth to it. John used a recent TODAY show interview with MSNBC's Ronan Farrow as an opportunity to express his belief that he has changed since the days of making crass statements about his many ex-girlfriends.

"I went 'Alright, dude. You did a couple interviews where you were out of touch and you were being a ham and you were basically breakdancing into a nitroglycerin plant, right?'" John said during the interview.

When asked if considered himself a womanizer, John didn't have to think twice. "No. Absolutely not," he said. He did own up to one fault, though: "I'm a recovered ego addict. The only way that I can be sure that I don't relapse is to admit that I constantly have this ego addiction."

John also discussed his decision to quit Twitter and the fact that he hasn't been making much music recently. "I will not check Twitter but I check the mirror, the original Twitter," he said.

John also said he know lives far away from LA, in Montana, where he says he "found home."

When asked what he would say to a younger version of himself, Mayer said: "I'd say, 'That guy's really, really talented, but I don't want to be anywhere near him when that thing goes off.'"
