More than a year after undergoing the first of two surgical procedures to repair his vocal cords, John Mayer is all healed up and ready to hit the road for his first series of extended tour dates since he concluded his 'Battle Studies' trek in 2010.

"The greatest gift I have in my life is the opportunity to play again, which is also the opportunity to dream again," Mayer enthused in the most recent issue of Billboard. "My dreams were in escrow, but when I found out this thing in my throat had receded, the most exciting thing for me was having a second chance at a new life. My dreams have come true twice. That's really cool."

The upcoming dates, scheduled to kick off in late April, will serve as Mayer's belated tour support for last year's 'Born and Raised' album, which has sold more than 500,000 units since debuting at Number One on the Billboard charts last May. But fans can probably expect to hear something new soon, too; during a recent Google+ Hangout to promote the tour, Mayer promised, "I want to make the commitment now that there's going to be a lot of music going around."
