Suffice it to say, Johnny Depp is not on the short list for an invitation to the Oval Office.

The actor got Glastonbury Festival crowds riled up Thursday night (June 22) when he brought up the subject of President Donald Trump. While presenting a screening of his 2004 film The Libertine, Depp came out swinging against the Commander in Chief, and intentionally drummed up some serious controversy.

"This is going to be in the press, and it will be horrible," he said. "But I like that you're all a part of it...When was the last time an actor assassinated a president?"

The crowd then cheered, according to The New York Times, at which point Depp added:

"I want to clarify...I'm not an actor. I lie for a living. However, it's been a while. And maybe it's time."

CNN adds that the Secret Service is "aware of the comment in question. For security reasons, we cannot discuss specifically nor in general terms the means and methods of how we perform our protective responsibilities."

Depp said during a May interview with The Ellen Degeneres Show that he was up for the challenge of playing Trump on Saturday Night Live should Alec Baldwin ever tire of the gig.

"Basically, Alec’s done all the work. I can just copy him," he said.
