Jon Hamm might be the star of a critically acclaimed TV drama, but he might be a just little envious of the industry juice wielded by the likes of the Hemsworth brothers and One Direction.

The 'Mad Men' star, who also made an impression on the big screen as a really bad boyfriend in 'Bridesmaids,' singled out 1D along with Liam Hemsworth and his brother Chris in a recent interview with Radio Times, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Calling himself "old and irrelevant in the current media landscape," the 43-year-old actor elaborated: "Ask anyone under the age of 20 if they have heard of me, and they will go, 'No, that guy looks like my dad.'"

"It doesn't compute to the generation that most of Hollywood cares about if your last name's not Hemsworth or you are not in One Direction or you don't wear a cape and tights for a living. You literally have a hard time making an impression," Hamm continued.

Still, he's happy he's never taken one of the many superhero roles he's been considered for. "For me to sign on now to do a superhero movie would mean I would be working until I am 50 as that particular superhero," he said. "It's a lot of work at one thing, which is not necessarily the reason I got into the business, which is to do many things. If you want to spend all day pressing the same key, that ... seems an odd choice."

Hey, he might be old but he certainly knows his current pop culture references. Hamm was the one who publicly slammed Justin Bieber in a magazine article earlier this year.
