UPDATE (3/24): The shopping period for Cary Fukunaga’s Maniac starring Emma Stone and Jonah Hill is over. Entertainment Weekly reports that Netflix has ordered 10 episodes of the buzzy series, adding yet another notch on its shiny streaming belt which includes an assortment of acclaimed original TV series like Orange Is the New Black and House of Cards.

ORIGINAL POST (3/20): Grab your fake IDs, kids—almost ten years later, an unofficial Superbad reunion is finally on the horizon! Well, sorta.

Entertainment Weekly has confirmed that actors Jonah Hill and Emma Stone, who starred together in the 2007 hit teen comedy Superbad, are in final negotiations to star in an upcoming American reboot of the popular Norwegian television series Maniac.

Billed as a “dark TV comedy” by EW, the show will feature Hill and Stone as two patients living in the psychiatric ward of a hospital. According to reports, the reboot will follow a similar story-line as the original 2014 series, in which one of the patients escapes his mundane everyday life by going on “fantastical adventures… by retreating into the fantasy world of his brain.”

So, basically what I do every day. Got it.

The half-hour-long series is being helmed by director-producer Cary Fukunaga, with Paramount TV (NCIS) and Anonymous Content (The Revenant) producing the show. Fukunaga is perhaps best known for directing the massively successful debut season of HBO’s critically acclaimed crime anthology series True Detective, which starred A-listers Matthew McConaughey, Woody Harrelson, and Michelle Monaghan. His 2015 Netflix-aired war drama, Beasts of No Nation, also received critical acclaim.

Fukunaga’s Maniac reboot is currently being shopped to various channels. Hill and Stone are reportedly set to executive produce.
