Is there anything Joseph Gordon-Levitt can't do?

We've seen the actor tackle just about every concievable type of role — he's played a Jersey boy with a nasty porn habit, a lovestruck hipster icon, a cancer-riddled twentysomething and yes, even what we suspect was supposed to be one-half of the comic world's most iconic duo.

Miraculously, his newest role will allow him to bring yet another flavor to his resume. JGL has signed on to produce and star in Fraggle Rock, a film adaption of Jim Henson's beloved puppet show of the same name, according to Variety. As you may recall from your childhood, Fraggle Rock tell the story of a group of miniature Muppets known as Fraggles.

Joseph has reportedly been an admirer of the late Jim Henson's work for a long time. “The first screen personas I ever loved were Henson creations, first on Sesame Street, and then on Fraggle Rock,” he said. “Jim Henson’s characters make you laugh and sing, but they’re also layered, surprising, and wise."

His gushing didn't stop there: "From Oscar the Grouch, to Yoda, to the Fraggles. I’ve never stopped loving his work, even as a young frisky man, and on into adulthood. Collaborating with Lisa Henson makes me confident we can do something that Jim would have loved. I’m grateful and excited to be working with New Regency on this project.”

The project has reportedly been in the works for nearly 10 years and we hope — and suspect — that the involvement of such a major star will give it the boost it need to premiere soon and successfully.
