Joshua Ledet Proves He Won’t Be ‘Running Away’ From ‘American Idol’ Anytime Soon
This week's 'American Idol' contestant Joshua Ledet turned 20 years old today (April 11). But before performing Bruno Mars' 'Runaway Baby,' Ryan Seacrest had a special birthday greeting for Ledet from none other than third season ‘Idol’ winner Fantasia Barrino. We visited his hometown of West Lake, La. where apparently they are as excited about Ledet as we are. Humble and adorable Ledet said “I’m just a small town boy, and that’s what I want to be at the end of the day.”
He may be a small town boy but he hit the stage big singing 'Runaway Baby' by Bruno Mars. Prior to singing, mentors Akon and Jimmy Iovine told him he “could pierce through people’s hearts with his tone.” Ledet successfully completed this task as we fell even more in love with him during his performance. Ledet took the stage looking swanky in a short white tuxedo jacket and didn’t miss a single beat.
The judges got to their feet and gave Ledet a standing ovation before giving the young singer praise. Jennifer Lopez commented “You’re dynamic, you take control of the audience -- that’s being a performer!” Randy Jackson coined it an unbelievable performance telling him “You’ve got everything going right now.” He then jokingly warned Ryan Seacrest “We got somebody who’s got to have it, he wants it!” Steven Tyler told Ledet he could “sell a song like a work of art.” He then encouraged him to get the number of the woman who go-go danced behind him during his performance.
Lopez chimed in that she doesn’t think Ledet will have any problems getting ladies digits in the future. We think she might be right!
