Often times on 'American Idol,' a performer's voice can be great, but the performance can suffer from a lack of heart. This certainly was not the case with Joshua Ledet tonight, as he put everything he had into a stellar rendition of Michael Bolton's version of 'When a Man Loves a Woman,' and brought the house down.

After giving Ryan Seacrest a quick tutorial on how to eat crayfish, revealing a bit of his Louisiana roots, Joshua came onto the stage wearing a slick white jacket with a rose pinned to his lapel. From the very first note, it was apparent that he was really going for it, throwing all of his emotion into the song. This kind of display can turn out really good or really really bad. Lucky for Joshua, he also happens to have an amazing voice.

The performance was riveting, and it seemed toward the beginning that he might falter a bit. His voice almost cracked on the first line, but a few lines in he really caught up with himself, finding the rhythm and pitch, and committing to the performance. He set himself up to go big with the song's falsetto scream, and he really carried it. J. Lo was blown away. At that point, he had captured the soul of the song.

The judges were as impressed as the audience, who gave the longest applause of the night. Steven Tyler called it "the most beautiful performance I've ever seen." Jennifer said it was the best thing she'd ever seen on 'American Idol,' and Randy Jackson agreed, saying that he had been hoping for someone "to come out here and regulate."

Joshua's performance was really incredible, but at this point, were the judges heaping too much praise on him? One thing is for sure, this is a testament to what can happen when an 'American Idol' contestant just puts their heart into their performance.
