In a year when non-Beyonce artists have overwhelmingly become hip to the fact that red carpet antics earn headlines, singer Joy Villa walked the 2017 Grammys red carpet in a gown emblazoned with Donald Trump's campaign slogan, "Make America Great Again," as a train stamped with an all-capped TRUMP dragged behind her.

Though not nominated for an award, Villa first appeared on the carpet with natural hair and in a flowing white caftan that tore away to reveal the political outfit. The singer, who describes herself as a "vegan" and a "feminist" in her Twitter bio, had begun retweeting press about her controversial outfit as the Grammy Awards ceremony broadcast was underway. By two hours into the broadcast, she was a Top 10 trending topic on Google.
