Justin Bieber continues to defy the trappings of pop stardom. The 17-year-old teen sensation keeps his head on straight and steadily supports victims of bullying.

In fact, Bieber even requested to meet with bullied teenager Casey Heynes while touring in Australia! According to Just So You Know, the Biebs flew Heynes and his family to Melbourne and invited them to be special guests at his show. Heynes also went on stage during Bieber's set.

Heynes, a 10th grade student, was videotaped being cornered by a bully who punched him several times while bystanders stood by and watched. One onlooker even took the time to film the incident but didn't call for an adult, intervene or try to help. Rather than just "take it," Heynes fought back against his attacker, by throwing him to the ground and ultimately standing up for himself. The video went viral and that's how The Bieb saw it and became aware of Heynes' plight.

"When I first saw it, I saw it on TMZ and I was like, 'This is crazy. I can't believe this. This is amazing.'" he said to Casey. "It shows everybody else that you have to stand up for yourself and you can't just take it."

Bieber also offered his take on how to handle a bullying situation, saying that it's best to take the high road and seek help first. "The first thing you do is go tell someone. You can't always hit back, but sometimes you have to. So, I think that was important for you, especially in that situation. So, I'm proud of you," Bieber said.

It's refreshing to see The Bieb be a positive role model for his fans and to speak out on the issue of bullying, which is a social problem that is spiraling out of control and nearing epidemic proportions as more stories about suicides that are a result of bullying come to light in the media. Nice work, Biebs.
