Former president George Bush Sr. dissed Justin Bieber during a remote chat with the TODAY show on June 12. Sort of.

While being interviewed by his granddaughter Jenna Bush Hager, the former leader of the free world's well-documented love of colorful socks was discussed. We know, riveting conversation, right? But when the convo turned to Bush being compared to The Biebs due to their shared love of bright socks, it got ugly. Sorta!

The elder Bush, who turned 88 yesterday, admitted, "I like a colorful sock. I'm a sock man," while showing off his yellow sock, which he dubbed "modest" by comparison.

When Jenna mentioned that the press has been comparing his love of loud, outlandish socks to that of Bieber, he asks, "Bieb? Is he a sock man? I don't know much about the Bieber. I've never seen him." He also claims to never have heard the teen's songs, but when Jenna tosses off a bar of 'Baby,' the onetime prez responded, "I don't think I like it."

That's akin to blasphemy for the Belieber nation. But we won't suggest that Mr. Bush take cover. He is an 88-year-old man, after all. We doubt any of his peers know or like The Biebs, either. Octogenarians are not The Biebs' target audience.

It's also interesting to point out that Bush left office in 1993, before The Biebs, who is a Canadian, mind you, was even born.
