When Justin Bieber first covered singer-songwriter Ernie Halter's song, 'Come Home to Me,' in Hong Kong, fans suspected it was a tribute to his girlfriend, Selena Gomez. But when the Biebs popped up in California last night to surprise Halter and perform on stage with him at his show, it was clear that the 'Baby' singer had his mind on the indie artist all along.

"I'm speechless. @justinbieber and @selenagomez came to see me play tonight and Justin sat in. All I can say is wow," Halter tweeted last night. Allegedly, the 17-year-old teen phenomenon traveled over 11 hours just to surprise Halter and sing 'Come Home to Me' with him at his small restaurant gig in Orange County, Calif.

Shortly after the set, the Biebs shot Halter a tweet back, "@erniehalter thanks for the night. Glad we could surprise u. U r the real deal. Congrats to u and the wife," he said. "And ... @erniehalter Never Say Never aint no BS. Haha. Thanks again. Music is universal. #artistssupportartists."

Halter, a California native, has dropped six albums in his career and has a tight-knit following of dedicated fans. He is currently expecting twins with his wife -- hence the congratulatory message from the young Biebs. The singer-songwriter seems to be on cloud 9 following Justin's appearance at his show, and has tweeted his thanks many times since. "What Justin Bieber has just done for my music, is like what Usher had done for his. #dreambig," he said. "I hope there's no limit on "thank you" cause I can't say it enough. @justinbieber"

"@erniehalter hey #payitforward right?," Bieber responded, solidifying his 'never say never' message.

Bieber loved performing 'Come Home to Me' so much, that he even did a studio recording of the song while in Asia. No word on whether he'll release the cover tune as a single, but we think it would sound nice with Halter's accompaniment!
