When Justin Bieber's manager, Scooter Braun, hinted that his client might want to work with One Direction, he wasn't kidding. Bieber and One Direction hooked up in the studio this week, according to tweets from the British boy band.

Yesterday, Liam Payne wrote, "Got a first listen to justin biebers new album yesterday wowww big songs!!! Its gunna be a smash... Expect the unexpected :o" Niall Horan added, "In the studio with our boy @justinbieber last night, it's gona sound great!" Bieber replied to Liam, "thanks buddy. good chillin with u guys."

It's worth pointing out that none of the guys said that any type of collaboration took place -- just that One Direction visited Bieber's studio. So perhaps we shouldn't assume that an all-star collabo is on the way. But Braun teased the idea in March, when he responded to a fan inquiry about the possibility of Bieber and One Direction singing together by saying, "very possible. he likes them and thinks they are good dudes. all people of that generation should be there to help EACHOTHER."

Bieber and One Direction are pals in the Top 10 this week. Bieber's 'Boyfriend' debuted at No. 2, while 1D's 'What Makes You Beautiful' edged into the Top 10 for the first time.

Bieber also revealed via Twitter that he's recording another collaboration with Usher and he's been working with will.i.am on at least one track.
