UPDATE: The "What Do You Mean?" lyric video has officially arrived.

Justin Bieber's "What Do You Mean?" single will make its official debut this Friday, August 28 (just a few days before the MTV Video Music Awards...COINCIDENCE?) and promo has reached its full saturation point. A review of Justin's Instagram feed over the past 30 days yields countdown-oriented endorsements from a shockingly wide range of celebrities, from Mark Wahlberg to Larry King to social media phenom King Bach and fellow Canadian Alanis Morissette. Taylor Swift's 1989 World Tour cameo roster could NEVER.

If you can't take the suspense one minute longer, we've got good news: A 30-second snippet of the track has hit the internet. If you truly want to dull the emotional impact of "What Do You Mean?" in its full majesty, listen to a rough-hewn taste of things to come below.

Perhaps aiming for the chart victory he's seen with his "Where Are U Now?" collaboration with Skrillex and Diplo, "What Do You Mean?" is a bouncy dance bop. Note the tick-tock beat in the background, as hinted at through all of his recent clock imagery. It's also got the synth-generated pan flute sounds found in the burgeoning "tropical house" genre, chiefly popularized by platinum-selling producer Kygo. In other words, Bieber's solidly on-trend and carving out a defined creative direction. The question is, do you love it?

The lyrics in the brief preview reflect what Justin told Ryan Seacrest in late July about the song's meaning. In describing his inspiration for the track, saying, “Girls are often flip-floppy. They say something, and then they mean something else. ‘What do you mean?…I don’t really know, that’s why I’m asking.”
