Justin Timberlake Collaborating With Mumford and Sons for Coen Brothers Flick

It's hard to imagine what a mashup between Justin Timberlake and Mumford & Sons would sound like, but we may get the opportunity soon enough. The 'Suit & Tie' singer revealed to Capital FM that he recorded music for a new Coen Brothers movie with Marcus Mumford.

"Marcus and myself, we all kind of worked on the music together and I don't know any other world where we would have the opportunity to collaborate like that, but it was so much fun," Timberlake said. "So not only will that be a great movie, but the music to it will be fantastic."

He added that he will be appearing in the movie as well, a thrill for someone who is a fan of the Coens' previous work, which includes 'O Brother Where Art Thou?' and 'True Grit.' "I'm obsessed with the Coen Brothers and playing a supporting role in the film was just enough for me to feel like, 'OK I'm not going to ruin this movie'," he said. "Because they just have a track record of, their movies are impeccable."

Timberlake also gave Capital insight into his recording process for 'The 20/20 Experience,' which included a willingness to think outside the box: "When we were making the record I said, 'If Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin can do 10-minute songs and Queen can do 10-minute songs then why can't we?' We'll figure out the radio edits later."

JT's newest song 'Mirrors' is eight minutes long, and it sounds as though there are more lengthy songs on the new record. He continued by getting philosophical about the purpose of music: 'Music is for dreamers. You should be able to create another world that you can live in. I'm not gonna speak for Bob Dylan -- he's one of my idols -- but from my perspective, as a fan, it seems to me that he started creating music that made him feel like another person and that's what it should do."
