Justin Timberlake better get his suit and tie ready: He's just been announced as a performer for the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards, where he will also be honored with the event's most prestigious award.

The 'Suit & Tie' singer will receive the illustrious Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at the event, being held Aug. 25 in Brooklyn, N.Y. Prior recipients of the honor include iconic video artists the King of Pop (of course), Madonna, Janet Jackson and even JT's long-ago ex Britney Spears.

Justin has a long history with the VMAs, having won a grand total of 14 Moonmen as both a solo artist and as a member of legendary boy band 'N Sync. Expect him to be adding more trophies to his shelf soon: He's nominated for six awards this year.

Previously announced performers for the VMAs include Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga, Robin Thicke, Katy Perry and Kanye West. More are expected to be added to the lineup soon.
