The landscape of pop music today could be a very different place. Why are we making such a bold statement? Justin Timberlake's hit song 'Rock Your Body' was actually intended for Michael Jackson!

According to Billboard, the infectious beat was originally supposed to appear on MJ's 2001 album 'Invincible' before the Neptunes sold the song to JT for 'Justified.'

The track has a definite Jacksonian-vibe, but we're extremely happy the beat went to Justin instead of Michael. This is not a knock on the King of Pop, it's just that we refuse to imagine a world where 'Rock Your Body' sounds any different. It's the ultimate party jam! You could also see this whole situation as MJ symbolically passing the torch to JT as the reigning pop music master. Just a thought!

MJ's interpretation of the beat could have been totally different and we're guessing he wouldn't have gone with the 'Rock Your Body' direction lyrically, seeing as the single off 'Invincible' was titled 'You Rock My World.' Oh, there's also that little diddy he has called 'Rock With You.'

Had everything gone as planned, and 'Rock Your Body' did go to MJ, would JT's debut solo album have been such a hit? If it wasn't, would we have 'FutureSex/LoveSounds' or his upcoming endeavor 'The 20/20 Experience'? We're just going to go ahead and say it... diaster averted!

Interestingly enough, this isn't the first time this has happened in recent memory. Back in February, Nicole Scherzinger said 'We Found Love' was originally intended for her before Rihanna ended up recording it. Your bad, Nicole! This kind of stuff happens much more often than us common folks know.
