Kanye West delivered a roller coaster of a ride at the 2008 Grammys with his widely differing performances. First, he surprised everyone during 'Stronger,' when the rapper was joined by French DJ duo Daft Punk. West samples the pair's electro-dance track 'Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger' on his own 'Graduation' track, and to see the helmet-wearing DJs suddenly appear was unexpectedly awesome... Not to mention the entire stage setup was insane, from the futuristic props to the dazzling lights.

Later on, West turned things way down and pulled at our heart strings when he performed 'Hey Mama.' West's mother, Donda, had passed away just a few months prior to the 2008 Grammys due to surgical complications. Fittingly, he ditched the special effects for just a spotlight and a microphone, laying out his raw emotions in an extremely touching tribute to the woman who gave him life.
