Karen Rodriguez made it clear in the beginning that she felt 'American Idol' needed a Latina to take the crown. And while the 21-year-old New Yorker gave us plenty of memorable performances, fusing English and Spanish, tonight was the end of the road, as the judges elected not to give her the save. One by one, the ladies are being picked off.

Rodriguez was given the chance to redeem herself after landing in the bottom when America voted on her performance of Taylor Dayne's 'Love Will Lead You Back.' Rodriguez chose Mariah Carey's ballad 'Hero.' Some of her rendition was quite beautiful; some of it was not.

When Randy Jackson delivered the news that the judges were not going to use their one and only save on her, he did make sure to tell Rodriguez that the decision was not unanimous and that at least one judge dissented on the opinion. Was it Jennifer Lopez, who was in her corner the entire time, given their shared Latina connection? Or was it Jackson, who elected to soften the blow by telling the hopeful that the decision was not across the board? Was it both? We'll never know.

We'll miss you, Karen.
