Broody, moody, super-talented singer-songwriter Skylar Grey has teamed up with house king Kaskade for a euphoric new dance track from Kaskade's newly released album, 'Fire and Ice' — and the results are major.

Cross-genre collaborations like this are frequently dazzling — like Tiesto's collab with Tegan & Sara, 'Feel It in My Bones,' or David Guetta's Sia-assisted smash 'Titanium' — and the Kaskade-Skylar track is no exception. Big, four-on-the-floor dance beats, redolent of Sophie Ellis-Bextor, underscore Grey's husky, honeyed vocals. "Sometimes I wish I never felt / The influence of you / Cause now I feel the disconnect / Like an open wound," she sings. Initially, it sounds like more of the melodrama and angst that we've come to expect from Grey, but the chorus takes an unexpectedly optimistic turn: "Don't be fooled by your emptiness / There's so much more room for happiness."

It's an intriguing departure for Grey, whose music has been doggedly urban in an increasingly dance-fueled market; even aside from her rap collaborations, her lead single 'Invisible' was a crunchy spot of Alex da Kid-produced rhythmic pop, so we're curious to see whether this will be the last time Grey teams up with a major DJ for a house track.

But even if it is, 'Room for Happiness' is a frosty dance banger that serves as an excellent addition to Grey's growing catalogue of hits — and one that we think will be on heavy rotation on the dancefloor this winter.
